Compatible 4-Holes in Point Sets

چکیده
Counting interior-disjoint empty convex polygons in a point set is a typical Erdős-Szekerestype problem. We study this problem for 4-gons. Let P be a set of n points in the plane and in general position. A subset Q of P with four points is called a 4-hole in P if the convex hull of Q is a quadrilateral and does not contain any point of P in its interior. Two 4-holes in P are compatible if their interiors are disjoint. We show that P contains at least b5n/11c−1 pairwise compatible 4-holes. This improves the lower bound of 2b(n− 2)/5c which is implied by a result of Sakai and Urrutia (2007).

On balanced 4-holes in bichromatic point sets
Let S = R∪B be a set of n points in general position in the plane. The elements of R and B will be called, respectively, the red and blue elements of S. A k-hole of S is a simple polygon with k vertices, all in S, and containing no element of S in its interior. A 4-hole of S is balanced if it has two blue and two red vertices. In this paper, we characterize the set of bicolored points S = R∪B t...
متن کامل4-Holes in point sets
We consider a variant of a question of Erdős on the number of empty k-gons (k-holes) in a set of n points in the plane, where we allow the k-gons to be non-convex. We show bounds and structural results on maximizing and minimizing the number of general 4-holes, and maximizing the number of non-convex 4-holes. In particular, we show that for n ≥ 9, the maximum number of general 4-holes is ( n 4 ...

For a point set P on the plane, a four element subset S ⊂ P is called a 4-hole of P if the convex hull of S is a quadrilateral and contains no point of P in its interior. Let R be a point set on the plane. We say that a point set B covers all the 4-holes of R if any 4-hole of R contains an element of B in its interior. We show that if |R| ≥ 2|B|+5 then B cannot cover all the 4-holes of R. A sim...

متن کاملA Ciric-type common fixed point theorem in complete b-metric spaces
In this paper, we define the concept of compatible and weakly compatible mappings in b-metric spaces and inspired by the Ciric and et. al method, we produce appropriate conditions for given the unique common fixed point for a family of the even number of self-maps with together another two self-maps in a complete b-metric spaces. Also, we generalize this common fixed point theorem for a seq...
